Age Verification Policy
Effective 1 January 2026 · Version 2.0 · Applies to all Australian members
At Seekers & Keepers, we believe that a refined and respectful community begins with a simple, non-negotiable commitment: everyone here is an adult. This Age Verification Policy explains how we confirm that every member is at least eighteen years of age, why we take this responsibility so seriously, and what you can expect from us throughout the process. Please read it alongside our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, as together they form the framework that keeps our platform safe, lawful, and welcoming.
Please note: this document is demonstration placeholder content prepared for testing the presentation of our Legal Hub. It is written to be realistic and plausible, but it does not constitute legal advice and should not be relied upon as a definitive statement of your obligations.
1. Our Minimum Age Requirement
Membership of Seekers & Keepers is strictly limited to individuals who are eighteen years of age or older. In certain Australian states and territories, a higher minimum age may apply to particular services or features, and where that is the case, the higher threshold will govern. By creating an account, browsing profiles, or engaging with any member, you confirm that you meet the applicable minimum age.
2. Why We Verify
Age verification is central to the integrity of everything we do. It protects minors from exposure to adult-oriented content, safeguards our genuine members from harm, and ensures we honour our obligations under Australian law. We would rather ask one question too many than allow a single underage registration to slip through.
3. How Verification Works
We use a layered approach, combining automated checks with careful human review. Depending on your account type and activity, you may be asked to complete one or more of the following steps:
- Confirm your date of birth during registration and attest that the information you provide is truthful.
- Upload a clear image of a valid, government-issued photo identification, such as an Australian driver licence, passport, or proof-of-age card.
- Complete a brief liveness check, which asks you to take a real-time selfie so we can confirm the document belongs to you.
- Respond to occasional follow-up requests where our review team requires additional assurance.
Verification is typically completed within one to two business days. Until it is finalised, access to certain features may be limited to protect the wider community.
Your Rights & Responsibilities
Verification is a partnership. We commit to handling your information with care, and in return we ask that you engage with the process honestly and promptly. Understanding what is expected of both parties helps everything run smoothly.
What We Promise You
Any identification you share with us is treated as strictly confidential. We collect only what is necessary, retain it only for as long as the law and our legitimate interests require, and store it using appropriate technical and organisational safeguards. Your documents are never displayed on your public profile, and they are never sold.
- You may request confirmation of your verification status at any time.
- You may ask which categories of information we hold in connection with your verification.
- You may raise a concern if you believe a decision was made in error, and we will review it fairly.
What We Ask of You
To keep the community safe, we rely on every member to act in good faith. In practical terms, this means:
- Providing accurate, current, and genuine identification that belongs to you.
- Never creating an account, or assisting another person to create one, on behalf of someone under eighteen.
- Keeping your login credentials private, so that no minor can access your verified account.
- Notifying us immediately if you suspect your account has been used by an underage individual.
Providing false information, or attempting to circumvent our checks, is a serious breach of trust and of our Terms of Use.
Enforcement, Data Handling & Contact
We apply this policy consistently and without exception, because the safety it protects is not something we are willing to compromise. This final section explains what happens when concerns arise and how you can reach us.
Consequences of Non-Compliance
Where we identify, or reasonably suspect, that an account belongs to a person under eighteen, or that verification has been attempted through deception, we will take swift action. Depending on the circumstances, this may include:
- Immediate suspension of the account pending further review.
- Permanent removal of the account and associated content.
- Retention of limited records where required to meet a legal or regulatory obligation.
- Referral to the appropriate authorities where we are compelled or permitted to do so.
How Your Verification Data Is Managed
Information gathered during verification is used solely to confirm your age and identity and to protect the community from fraud and harm. We do not use it for advertising, and we restrict internal access to trained team members who genuinely need it. Once its purpose has been fulfilled and any retention period has passed, the information is securely deleted or irreversibly anonymised.
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy from time to time to reflect changes in law, technology, or our practices. When we make a material change, we will update the version details shown above and, where appropriate, notify you directly. Continued use of Seekers & Keepers after an update signals your acceptance of the revised terms.
